Three photographers with different specialisations deliver the sessions. Each brings a distinct working method — participants see the same problem approached from multiple
angles.
Declan Farquhar
Program Lead — Natural Light
Declan has spent over a decade photographing people in outdoor environments across northern Queensland. His sessions focus on reading available light and working
without additional equipment.
"The most useful skill is seeing what's already there before adding anything."
Tibor Vásárhelyi
Studio and Artificial Light
Tibor's background is in commercial portraiture. He teaches the studio modules with a focus on understanding light physics rather than memorising setups — so
participants can adapt when things don't go to plan.
"Knowing why a setup works means you can fix it when it doesn't."
Sorcha Ní Fhaoláin
Post-Processing and Review
Sorcha leads the editing and critique sessions. Her approach centres on what the image looked like at capture and making editing decisions that stay consistent with the
original light and mood rather than correcting for its absence.
"Editing should finish the image, not rescue it."
